Hardwood

A timeless classic that provides style and durability. Hardwood comes in both solid hardwood options and the ever-popular engineered hardwood. Engineered hardwood can often be a bit more affordable while offering good selection and durability. Engineered hardwood is created by bonding together several layers of hardwood in a cross-ply manner. It is usually more resistant to moisture and temperature.

Hardwood comes in many species, a variety of board lengths and widths, colours and finishes. Options are available for all budgets and tastes.

Carpet

Carpet or the other term used, Broadloom, which generally refers to tufted carpet that is installed wall-to-wall still remains one of the most popular flooring choices. It is the most comfortable to walk or stand on and provides good sound absorption and temperature insulation. With a wide variety of colours, patterns and materials there is a carpet for every home. The natural fibres most commonly used are wool. Wool is luxurious and has natural hypoallergenic properties. However, wool would be considered a higher price point than man-made materials such as nylon, polyester and polypropylene/olefin.

Vinyl

This extremely durable and versatile product is a composite consisting of many layers typically designed to look like wood or tile. Vinyl plank is cost-effective, durable, pet and kid-friendly. Vinyl planks are scratch, dent and water-resistant while some are classified as waterproof. Some vinyl planks are a glue-down installation while others are a click-together, floating installation.

Laminate

Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product fused together with a lamination process. Laminate flooring simulates whatever material it was designed to mimic with a high-resolution image usually of wood, tile or stone. The photographic layer is under a clear protective layer. The inner core layer is usually composed of melamine resin and fiberboard materials.

Linoleum

An affordable, low maintenance option great for wet areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry. Installation can either be a glue-down method or floating with securing around the perimeter only dependent upon the product and installation requirements. This product comes in large rolls/sheets that can be cut to measure and installed fairly quickly. Typically designed to imitate tile or wood there are many patterns and colours to choose from.

Tile

Tile is offered in many materials, sizes, shapes, patterns and colours so the versatility is endless and can really be strictly functional or really make a design impact.

Ceramic tiles are the most common type and offer the widest variety.  Porcelain tiles typically cost more than ceramic but would be considered stronger and often come in larger formats than ceramic.  Natural stone and marble are also an option but are more expensive and trickier to work with.  Additionally, natural tiles may be more porous and need to be sealed.  However, there are many realistic faux alternatives to select from that look natural.

Tile is still the number one choice for wet areas such as bathrooms as they are easier to clean, non-porous when glazed/sealed and resistant.
